Ved-Ava's Stone. Moss Agate Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver.

£89.00 GBP

A deep green moss agate stone, marked with a small, blood-like inclusion, has been set and in a deconstructed sterling silver bezel, accented by sterling granulations. The pendant hangs from a hand wrapped chain of ombre stones-- jasper, mahogany obsidian and more agate.  Measuring 19 1/2" or 49cm, the necklace closes with a hand forged clasp in my Bird Mother shape, reminiscent of ancient bird mother iconography. The necklace has been hallmarked in Edinburgh-- the hallmark on the clasp bearing the mark of the Edinburgh assay office, the Scottish silver mark as well as my makers mark.

Agate has been considered a sacred "lucky" stone by many faiths and paths, curing melancholia and aiding in persuasive speech- Romans thought the stone protected sailors at sea.

I have named this piece after this Finno-Urgic water Goddess, Ved-ava, the Water-Mother who is the embodiment of the spirit of water.

All my jewellery is made by hand by my partner Mike and myself in a converted 18th century naval school on the wild North coast of Scotland. All pieces come gift wrapped with lavender and Scottish heather.
