A long, elegant statement necklace, this is the latest manifestation of one of my best loved designs. The Magdalen features an elaborate, heavily blackened filigree crest as a base for a rosary chain-- here, the beads are antique, carved wood-- resembling bog wood with three long quartz crystal tears hanging from the base of the crest. The antique chain is blacked, patina'ed and slightly rusty with age, adding the the piece's depth and mystery. The necklace is 26" long and closes with a blackened pewter filigree clasp.
I named this design after Mary Magdalen, a figure full of contradiction and apocryphal fascinations. A mixture of austere simplicity and over-the-top decadence-- it felt fitting to name it after the Magdalen.
