A delicate, feminine piece of semi precious stones and sterling silver hand wrapped in a beaded chain with a hand forged sterling silver clasp in my Bird Mother shape, inspired by ancient bird goddess imagery. The various stones that make up the chain are Carnelian, garnet, rutilated quartz, citrine, pyrite, peridot, tourmaline, smoky quartz and labradorite are included here.
The necklace pictured measures 17" or 42cm, but this design can be made to order in 15" (38cm) and 19" (48cm) lengths as well. You can see the 17" one on my UK size 14 mannequin with a 14" neck.
This necklace has been hallmarked in Edinburgh with the Scottish sterling mark as well as my maker's mark.
Dedicated to the goddess Kore or Persephone, Queen of the underworld. Long before the myth of her abduction with Pluto was invented and she became the goddess of spring, she was called Kore. One of the oldest goddesses, she is another name for Hecate, Hel-- those who preside over the blessed dead. This necklace with its spring colourways shifts from dark to light to dark again in honour of the shifting aspects of this goddess.
All my jewellery is made by hand by my partner Mike and myself in a converted 18th century naval school on the wild North coast of Scotland. All pieces come gift wrapped.
