Two bright, organic sterling silver droplets these wearable everyday stud earrings. They are truly unique, created using the water casting method: recycled sterling silver is heated with a flame until it's molten, and then plunged into cool water, forming many irregular shapes. I have named them ichor, because they resemble the ectoplasmic blood of the gods.
The little studs are a 3/4" or just shy of 20mm long.
I am fascinated by the water casting process, as it combines all the magical elements of water, earth (the silver), air (the cooling steam) and fire (from the torch). The results are akin to augury or divination using auspices or tokens of deep knowing. The silver formed is often ghost or fairy like.
All my jewellery is made by hand by my partner Mike and myself in a converted 18th century naval school on the wild North coast of Scotland. All pieces come gift wrapped.
