This minimalist pendant is full of mystery. A rose-cut moonstone with loads of blue flash nestles in a weighty circle of sterling. It shines it's light over a rustic, watercast sterling shape-- a cocoon perhaps or a distant landscape.
This process of water casting fascinates me-- as it uses the elements of fire, water, earth and air in a kind of formative ritual. I like to think of it as a form of divination- argyromancy for its similarity to molybdomancy, or the use of molten lead for divination- still in use in Finland at New Year as well as in Turkey. What do you see in this organic, shining shape?
Necklace measures 17 1/2" or 44cm long and closes with a hand forged clasp in my Bird Mother shape, inspired by Neolithic bird goddess iconography.
This piece has been hallmarked at the Assay Office in Edinburgh with the Scottish Sterling mark as well as my maker's mark. All pieces come gift wrapped.
